We had hoped that the forecast for the weekend would improve. However, in light of the fact that there are now two Met Office yellow weather warnings in place (one for the wind and one for the rain) and that there is a named storm heading our way, the Committee has taken the regrettable decision to cancel the market this Saturday.

This is never an easy decision, but we feel that we have no option – the wind speeds predicted are far too high to put up the gazebos up and trade safely.

A number of traders have advised that they are intending to trade independently from their vehicles on the Square on Saturday – Dan the Fish Man, Higher Hacknell, Oakcroft Farm, Gardeners Delight Nursery (vegetables and flowers), Redhills (apple juice), Evendale (lamb and chicken) and Cobley Farm (eggs).

Hopefully, we will all be back to normal and ready to go for the next market on March 7th!
