Bread of Devon is a small family bakery which began trading from Stoke Canon in 2003. Crediton was our very first farmers’ market, and its committees and customers have always been a most encouraging and positive support to our continuing development. The market remains one of our favourites. Nick, Toby and Will May (father and sons respectively) try to produce a wide variety of plain, savoury, fruit and sweet breads using only organic wheat and non-wheat flours from our favourite millers, Doves Farm. Also making yeast free loaves of various kinds, we attempt to produce a sufficiently wide range of breads as to allow customers with particular food intolerances still to find a loaf which they can eat and enjoy. We are, however, unable to bring gluten-free breads to market since we cannot isolate such breads from other gluten present in the bakery. Bread of Devon is proud to have been voted ‘Best Baker’ in the Devon Life Food and Drink Awards three years running. We thank all those Crediton customers who have voted for and supported us over the years.
